Formed in 2013, the Ag Women’s Network (AWN) is passionately focused on cultivating and connecting leaders for a strong agriculture sector.
With more than 1500 members, our membership consists of women working in all facets of the agricultural industry.
From flowers to field crops, hops to hogs, pulses to poultry, and canola to cows, our members are farmers and professionals interested in a vibrant agriculture industry which celebrates diversity and allows individuals to reach their full potential.
This vision is critical for the agriculture and agri-food industry to attract and retain top talent with the required skills to advance the industry going forward. In order to achieve this, we provide a forum for members to share their experiences and learn from one another, thereby fostering relationships and empowering women to push themselves further.
In addition to social media, online chats and in-person events held throughout the year, members can also become involved in the leadership of the Ag Women’s Network. As a volunteer-led network, we encourage members to participate in a variety of ways. This allows members to develop their own skills while also contributing to the network’s success.
We believe that Ag Women’s Network is a great example of the power of connection – and the way that Internet access can help leaders build relationships, learn, share, and grow their influence in their field of choice. We couldn’t agree more with Ag Women’s Network Chair Jen Christie’s note about how important access to high-speed Internet is to connecting rural communities and maintaining networks like the AWN:
“I’m a big believer that technology can give people a leg up, as long as they can access it. Affordable, high-speed internet in rural areas can give not only women but everyone in rural Canada, including northern Canada, access to better tools, like video-conferencing, webinars and online courses. I’m hopeful since the CRTC has deemed it an essential service that plans to extend coverage will be expedited.” – Ag Women’s Network Chair Jen Christie.
