On January 19, 2016, Town of Caledon Council unanimously passed the Town’s 2016 Budget which included a special tax levy for broadband. The special levy will generate $300,000 per year which results in a high-speed internet investment of $1,200,000 to $1,500,000 over 4 and 5 years, respectively. The plan is that these funds will be invested into the SWIFT project and the investment will translate into an approximate $22,500,000 fibre infrastructure buildout in Caledon with Federal, Provincial, and Private sector contributions also factored in.
