North Frontenac Telephone Company (NFTC) is now offering high-speed internet service to residents living in the communities of Yatton, Creek Bank and Goldstone.    

(Wellington, ON) May 12,  2021 – SWIFT today announced that 275 more households and businesses now have access to high-speed internet, as NFTC completes construction of a $2 million fibre-to-the home network to bring improved broadband service to residents living in the communities of Yatton, Creek Bank and Goldstone.

“Today’s announcement is great news for Wellington County, as we are pleased to share that NFTC has completed construction of a fibre-optic network to bring high-speed internet access to many more homes and businesses within the municipality,” said Barry Field, Executive Director, SWIFT. “The new high-speed network is the second SWIFT funded project to complete construction in the county and is now offering gigabit speeds to customers.”  

In total, SWIFT has awarded NFTC $1.3 million in federal and provincial funding to construct new broadband infrastructure within Wellington County to bring high-speed internet service to many more rural residents. 

“I’m so pleased to be able to announce that residents and businesses in the communities of Yatton, Creek Bank, Goldstone are now receiving fast, reliable internet service,” said Ernie Hardeman. Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs. “This latest step forward will help deliver broadband that supports better educational opportunities, attracts more businesses and create jobs in Wellington County.”

“Today, 275 more households and businesses in Wellington County have access to high-speed internet,” said County of Wellington Warden Kelly Linton.  “With students moving to remote learning and many local businesses needing to move online, the need for reliable, high-speed internet has never been more apparent.  The County is pleased to be working with SWIFT to expand high speed broadband services throughout our underserviced areas.”

Southwestern Integrated Fibre Technology (SWIFT) is a non-profit regional broadband project initiated by the Western Ontario Wardens’ Caucus to subsidize the construction of high-speed broadband networks across Southwestern Ontario.

The project was approved for funding under the New Building Canada Fund – Small Communities Fund (NBCF-SCF), a joint federal and provincial infrastructure funding program, and leverages additional funding from municipal partners and private sector investors to improve access to broadband services across the region.
