Funding investments in rural broadband will help Ontarians connected to global opportunities.

Today the Ontario Government renews it commitment to investing $315 million over the next five years to ensure communities across Ontario have access to critical broadband and cellular connectivity.

“Connectivity is vital part of everyday life, yet many families, businesses and farmers in rural communities do not have access to affordable and reliable high-speed Internet,” says David Mayberry, SWIFT Chair. “Today’s announcement confirms the government’s commitment to supporting rural broadband and the social and economical well being of our rural communities.”

SWIFT welcomes the Government of Ontario’s commitment to improving broadband services to underserved communities across Ontario and will continue to work with all levels of government and other stakeholder groups to maximize broadband infrastructure investments in Southwestern Ontario.
